   F.A.Q.'s

1. Do I need to schedule an appointment to try on bridal gowns?
Yes, at Sophia's we highly recommend
appointments.
Every bride is
assigned a consultant that will guide you through the wedding process and help you find a dress that suits exactly what you are looking for.  We do try to accommodate walk-ins, but appointments are always given first preference.
2.  How long before my wedding should I order my gown?  The minimum time we recommend purchasing your gown is 8 months before your wedding. Typically, bridal gowns take 4-5 months to special order.  If any changes are made or special hems ordered it can take up to 6 months.  In addition to ordering time you need to leave space for alterations and pressing which we recommend starting 2 months before the big day so that you don't go into a fitting the week of your wedding.
3.  My wedding is in 2 months, can I find a dress at Sophia's?  Yes, you can purchase many of our gowns off the rack at any time and we have several sale dresses that are off the rack only.  Some designers carry stock pieces that we can also check on if you need a different size.
4.  What are the prices like at Sophia's?  The prices at Sophia's are amazing.  We carry independent, well known designers that are only found in small boutiques at unbelievable prices.  We have sale dresses starting at $399.00 and our most expensive dress is $1,550.00.  You won't fall in love with a dress that you can't afford at our boutique.  The majority of our gowns are between $850-$1,000.  When you come to Sophia's let your consultant know your price point and she can work with you to find a dress that you love in that range.
4.  Will I be able to see dresses at Sophia's that I haven't seen anywhere else?  Yes, yes, yes!   Many of our designers are not carried at any other store in Indianapolis.  We pride ourselves on our unique and beautiful selection.  We specifically choose designers that have closed markets and will not sell their dresses to every store in the area.  To you, it means you won't be wearing a dress that looks like every other wedding you have been to.  Your dress will be yours
 5.  Who should I bring with me when I come to my appointment?  When shopping for a wedding gown all the experts advise not bringing too many people.  Your mom and one or two other trusted individuals seem to be the perfect mix.  Pick a few people who love you to come and your experience will be alot more enjoyable and you will have a better chance at being successful in your quest.  It's great to have one or two people who are close to you give you honest opinions, but bringing too many people to "poll the audience" is a recipe for disaster that may make you miss your perfect gown.  In the end the only opinion that truly counts when picking a wedding gown is YOURS!  You are the only one that will really know when you have found the gown that makes you feel and look amazing.
6.  What if I find the gown of my dreams and I'm not ready to buy it yet?  (I'm not ready financially or I want my mom to see it.) By leaving an appointment with a dress you love, but not purchasing it, you risk a few things.  The dress may be sold off the rack and you will not have the opportunity to show your mother later or to try it on again.  Another risk is that a gown may be discontinued by a designer and unable to be reordered.  In that case the only dress available will be the one in the store and if it isn't in the color and size you need you miss the opportunity to have the dress you fell in love with.  We suggest that before you set an appointment you ask yourself, "If I found the wedding gown of my dreams in my budget can I buy it today?"  If the answer is no you can schedule a time to tour the store so you won't fall in love with any one gown that may not be available when you are ready to order.  It's best to be ready at Sophia's  by bringing your mom or whoever you want with you so if you find that perfect dress you won't have to leave it behind.  We do have payment options where a deposit can have the dress ordered or taken off the rack.
7.  How is Sophia's different than the other boutiques and chain stores?  The biggest differences at our store are the unique styles of high quality gowns that we offer and our committed level of service to our brides.  Typically, big chain bridal stores manufacture and sell their own dresses made from inferior fabrics and beading in the cheapest factories overseas. They advertise these gowns on television, in magazines, posters, internet and on email banners.  The same dresses are sold at every location nationwide and there is nothing unique about any of them. As a result of the quality you will end up spending upwards of $200 on undergarments to make the dress "fit and lay" correctly. You will not experience this at Sophia's. All of our gowns are "constructed" in such a high quality way that boning through the bodice and layers of tulle under the skirt simply don't require any unneccesary undergarments. This saves you money.

A customer recently told us that she went to a wedding where 2 brides were in the exact same dress at receptions across the hall from each other!  The bride was mortified that she bought her dress at a huge chain type store.  Not to mention people tell us everyday that they just "felt like a number" at the chains and superstores.

The other major difference is how we care for our customers. Our philosophy is to provide an atmosphere where people feel as though they are  truly treated like family. We make recommendations based solely on your needs and desires. Simply stated, we hear stories every day about how people are mistreated in Indianapolis bridal stores and we go out of our way to be the absolute best bridal experience for each guest.
